AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): As the Election is knocking the door, so CPI-M is now busy to save face from various allegation and complains. Such an incident happened at Agartala on Monday when BJP members were all set to block the Abhoynagar-BG road issuing the overflowing drains there. Reportedly, local people and BJP members also were doing day to day complaints to the AMC but even after multiple complaints raised by the locals no action was taken to solve the issue. After Sunday's incessant rain the drain had been overflowed and unhygienic condition has occupied that part of Agartala. The vexed BJP members as pre-schedule was to block the road. But immediately dozer, labours were brought to the spot and work began to clean the drains. Whereas since 5 / 6 months multiple complains were given in AMC, no action was taken. But as soon as BJP's activity was overheared by CPI-M, action was taken all of a sudden. When BJP members came for road blockage, they were surprise to see the AMC people there working pro-actively.

AMC Councilor Krishna Majumder personally talked to the protesters and urged them not to hold any protest there.BJP members further asked her why till day no action was taken ? However, as work had begun so no blockade was done by BJP and they retuned back to homes.

Agartala Municipal Corporation is hiking various taxes year after year, but when it comes for service it's only Zero.

In the performance budget  declared by Mayor Prafullajit Sinha it was written that, “The main fund of AMC gathers from Tax. In 2015-2016 FY, Rs. 438.26 Lakhs were gathered by AMC, whereas in 2016-17 the target is about Rs. 80 lakhs”. Thus the gap between 2 FYs seems as around Rs. 42 lakhs, which will be however a huge for Agartala residents.

But after so much of taxes are applied, the result is left with garbage points, uncovered filled drains and pathetic roadways.

Reportedly, the Municipal Corporation has not provided any kind of containers and dustbins for dumping garbage in most of the parts in the city, so that no municipal workers are need to be deployed in those areas.
