AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Twenty three solely women-run polling stations would be used in the coming Tripura three tier panchayat elections, State Election Commissioner Yatendra Kumar said here today. Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here today, the official said that all District Election Officers were asked to conduct an exercise and propose locations for women run polling stations.The DEO at Gomati district proposed five women run polling stations across Tepania, Matabari, Kakraban and Amarpur sub-divisions.
Three all-women polling stations were proposed from West Agartala district, two were proposed from Unakoti and Khowai districts each. Eleven women run polling stations were proposed from Sepahijala district. The State Election Comission today gave official approval for the proposals, Kumar said.
He added that printing of ballot papers for the panchayat election ended at the government press on Monday. Security personnel deployment in all 35 strong rooms across the state started this evening. Deployment would be completed by Wednesday morning. The ballot papers would be distributed starting tomorrow after security deployment starts, the State Election Commissioner said. All ballot papers are expected to be deployed by July 07, he added.
