AGARTALA, June 28 (TIWN): The medicinal plants board of Tripura in association with Forest department organized a national level one day workshop on "Importance of Traditional Medicines in Health Care Management" at Pragna Bhavan here. Minister for Forests Naresh Ch Jamatia inaugurated the workshop in presence of Dr. Chief Secretary S.K. Panda, Dr. V.K. Bahuguna, Princpal Secretary, Forests, PCCF S. Talukdar and other departmental officers.
In his welcome address the CEO, MPBT explained the background for organizing the workshop and what is expected out of the participations.
In his key note address the Principal Secretary, Forests discussed on the health policy, the necessity for having a road map for the development of medicinal plant sector of the State and the necessity of the generation of awareness amongst the people. The PCCF, in his speech has requested the participants to contribute in the workshop in a constructive way so that the plants which are essential required locally for the treatment of the disease are promoted.
In his inaugural speech, the Minister has requested the participants who have come from various distance and remote part of the states, to share their knowledge about the traditional medicines which have flourished in our country. The Minister had also requested the folk level traditional practitioners, who in his opinion are rendering excellent service in the remotest part of the state to cure the people from their every day ailments.
The workshop was organized on Thursday. K.G. Sreekumar, CEO, SMPB Kerala, Dr. S. Rajasekharan, Sr. Project Consultant, SMPB Kerala, Dr. P.K. Mukherjee, Director, School of Natural Product Studies, Jadavpur University, Dr. A. Kareem, Asst. Director, FRLHT, Bangalore Dr.S.A. Ansari, Director, IFP,ICFRE, Ranchi, K.Shrestha, Vice President, Nepal Foresters Association, Dr. A.Tyagi, Acharya, Shri Dhanvantri Divya Avam Sidha Herbal Aushadhi Anusandhan Sansthan. Chattisgarh, Dr.V.P. Bhatt, Sr. Scientist, Herbal research & Development Institute, Uttarakhand, B.A. Raju, Ayurvedic Specialist, Hyderabad also explained the background necessity of the workshop and what is expected out of the participations.
