AGARTALA, Jan 28 (TIWN): The country is eying for the Union budget for the current Financial Budget which is to be held on Feb 1st. However, from Tripura and other Northeast states, everyone has a keen eye for the upcoming railway budget, the biggest connectivity network expansion plan of the Modi Govt, which has already started functioning in full web on Tripura’s soil. The Railway budget growth’s possibility is high as modern technology will also introduced in NE Railway and as per the Central Railway Minister’s words all the states will be treated equally regardless Northeast India. Already for Sabroom-Udaipur rail line Rs. 1200 crores are estimated. Prabhu said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully focused on the northeast. During the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government, the railway budget for northeast was Rs 2,021 crore and it was increased to Rs 5,340 crore in the current year’s (2016-17) budget.”

“The railway budget for the northeastern region would be further increased in the upcoming financial year (2017-18). We have taken all out efforts to resolve the problems and backwardness of the northeastern region,” Prabhu added.

However, central is expecting a huge amount of revenue generation from Tripura. As a result the Central Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu again and again asking the Tripura Govt to utilize the BG in exporting items and home made projects. Also he suggested to increase the domestic production including bamboo made products.

On January 24, mentioning further about various ongoing crisis in state Tripura, Prabhu pointed out, “During my last visit in Tripura in the month of July, the state was suffering from extreme diesel crisis. We immediately launched train service to diminish the crisis and now the state govt should utilize the train service to avoid any kind of such crisis”.

Although Tripura Govt failed to generate  any revenue till day, but the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu declared that after Udaipur-Agartala the network will be extended till Sabroom in South Tripura district, which would be the next gateway for India from Bangladesh.

Tripura under the 2 years of Modi Governance has got a chance of highly potential sectors for promoting trade and commerce with neighbouring Bangladesh including the forthcoming projects of Indo-Bangla rail link through Akhaura, Indo-Bangla Friendship Bridge over River Feni and the Agartala-Sabroom rail link that would place India’s rail services at arms’ length of Bangladesh Railway network.
