7th National Voters’ Day : Tripura’s vote casting rate 90 %

AGARTALA, Jan 25 (TIWN): State Election Commission’s Principal Secretary S K Rakesh on the occasion of 7th National Voters Day announced that Tripura is having the highest vote casting rate in the whole country almost around 90 %.

“The theme of the National Voters Day-2017 is “Empowering Youths and Future Voters” is just appropriate for Tripura as the state has a maximum number of voters per election. Much enthusiasm is followed during the polling times before the booths”, said Rakesh.

The State Election Commissioners G K Rao announced that Tripura’s women's vote casting rate is also praiseworthy and men-women equally cast votes in the state. “Today’s progamme has 2 aims : 1) To motivate the existing voters for vote-casting in every elections, 2) To add new voters in voting list”, said G K Rao, the State Election Commissioner”, said Rao.

However during the programme oath taking ceremony was also conducted for the new voters led by Tripura Gymnast icon Dipa Karmakar.

Governor handed over voter ID cards to few of the students present in Rabindra Bhawan. The name of the students are : Mahamaya Debbarman, Ritesh Singha, Rakhi Khatun, Ankit Das, Udai Shakar Debbarma.

2 Law College students were given Rs. 3000’s award by the Governor who achieved 2nd position in a quiz competition on ‘Voters Day-2017’ named Joydeep Dutta, Koushik Bhattachariya. However Holy Cross College Students became first, but they were absent on that occasion.

ADM Sadar Kuntal Das was also present on that auspicious occasion.
