AGARTALA, Jan 24 (TIWN): Adding another indelible moment with Tripura’s Railway-Revolution-History under Modi Era, the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has inaugurated the long awaited Agartala-Udaipur regular passenger train on Tuesday 3 PM. The Union Minister was connected with Tripura via video conference from New Delhi, whereas Tripura Ministers and MPs were present at Agartala Railway Station and jointly inaugurated the train service. Thousands of people gathered in that inaugural programme. NFR high officials, Tripura Transport Dept. officials also became a part of the historical moment. Among the Tripura VIPs, PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, Transport Minister Manik Dey, MP Jharna Das Baidya, MP Jitendra Chowdhury, MP Shankar Prasad Dutta, MLA Dilip Sarkar were present.

But although Union Home Minister Suresh Prabhu for NE State Tripura’s 44.762 KM train service’s inauguration programme managed time for video conferencing, Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Sarkar whose earlier residence was at Udaipur  didn’t attend the programme, although it was the Chief Minister himself who invited Suresh Prabhu to inaugurate the train service of Agartala-Udaipur. 

It is believed that Modi Govt has always specially cared about Tripura people’s sentiment from the beginning and that’s the reason why Suresh Prabhu himself inaugurated the train service from New Delhi. 

From New Delhi Suresh Prabhu said, "Like other states NE states should be developed.... it's PM Modi's wish. The railway budget in coming days will be increased more for Northeast. This is the 6th train which the Central Govt has given to Tripura. Tripura Sundari temple, one of the greatest tourists spots in India has been connected from today with rest of the country". 

This is the 2^nd time that this Union Minister has inaugurated a train service in Tripura. Earlier, Suresh Prabhu had arrived in Tripura in another historical day i.e. on 31^st July, when the state got its first Express Train named Tripura Sundari Express.

 On that day Suresh Prabhu said, “I never saw such a crowd in my life during a train service inauguration…it shows the demand of Tripura’s people for train services….but this is just the beginning”.

However, on Tuesday the crowd also congested as from passenger to local people all were in cheering mood and goodbyes the train for a safe journey till Udaipur from Agartala railway station.

Northeast state Tripura, which was considered as a “Landlocked-State”, after the Modi Govt came in power the title of ‘Landlocked’ itself began to change. The landlocked condition became almost a blessing and Tripura is now ready to be the ‘Gateway of Southeast Asia’.

Modi Govt re-planned the bordering states’ connectivity and in an attempt to boost the trades with Indo-Bangla connectivity------the train service, the portway service all are giving as the primary priority by the Central Govt now.

After the train left towards Gomati Dist’s main City Udaipur, now the work will begin in full wave for Udaipur-South Tripura railway tracks, which is situated at the last part of Tripura before Bangladesh border and after that the whole Tripura will be connected by railway tracks.
