Agartala, June 22 (TIWN): Merely a human can help another human being by donating blood as blood can not be produced in the factory, said Tripura Chief Minister- Manik Sarkar in a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp, here today.
The mega Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organised by the Naba Uday Sangha club with the assistant of a medical team of Tripura Medical College and Hospital at Kanchanpalli area of Siddhi Ashram, today. Chief Minister- Manik Sarkar inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp by cutting ribbon. Beside, a gala function was also organised by the club authority while the child artists have performed inaugural song. This function was inaugurated by the Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission- Swami Hitakamananda.
In his address, Sarkar appreciated the initiative of the club authority for organising the Blood Donation Camp. There is no alternative of blood. For that the CM appealed to donate blood as much as possible. Besides blood donation camp, he appealed to organise different Eye and posthumous Body donation camps too.
While addressing the gathering, Swami Hitakamananda asserted that though the females are the major blood recipient but the number of female blood donors is so poor in the state. For that he specially appealed to the women to take part in this kind of blood donation camps.
During the camp a vast number of people have donated their bloods. Later, the club authority handed over a cheque of Rs 5000 to the chief minister for the CM’s relief fund.
On the other hand, a Blood and Eye Donation Camp was organised at the HGB road of Surya Chowmohani, Agartala. The camp was organised by the Tripura Government Employees’ Association (TGEA). Minister for Health and Public Works Department- Badal Chowdhury inaugurated the camp. A total of 100 persons have donated their bloods and 6 persons have donated their eyes in the camp.
