Agartala, June 21 (TIWN) : Lamenting over the poor results in the board examinations, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today laid emphasis on quality education at the school level.
Almost all educational facilities are available in the schools but the results in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary levels were not at expected level, he said while speaking at a programme at Town Hall here.
The programme was organized to mark introduction of new books under revised syllabus of Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) both in Bengali and English.
Heaping praise on the initiative of TBSE, he said “The move was timely and praise worthy. Students will be beneficial from the move”.
Calling for self introspection, Chief Minister told, “The teachers must come forward to identify loopholes and take remedial measures. Teachers must fix target to improve the quality in the education system”.
TBSE president Amitabh Debroy and Special Secretary of School Education department PK Chakravarty and Head Masters from various schools remained present in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, TBSE president said, “The Board will conduct examination as per the all-India level board examinations to equip our students at par with the national standard”.
In the Madhymik examinations, the pass percentage was zero in 18 schools.
A workshop on new syllabus was also conducted after the inauguration of new books.
