AGARTALA, Dec 30 (TIWN): Bangladesh former foreign Minister Dipu Moni arrived here in Tripura on Friday in a 2 day visit.
She arrived via Akhaura Checkpost at 2 PM.
Talking the media there Dipu Moni said, “Her arrival in the month of Vijoy-month (Victory-month) mainly as a part of visiting the country to which Bangladesh will be always indebted”.
However, she is also scheduled to attend in a book publishing programme in the evening at Agartala.
It’s worthy to mention here that Victory day in Bangaldesh is celebrated on December 16 to commemorate the victory of the Allied Forces High Command over the Pakistani Forces in the Bangladesh Liberation war in 1971.
Dr. Dipu Moni was the Foerign Minister of Bangladesh from 2009 to 2013. She was appointed the first female Foreign Minister on 6 January 2009 after a landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance on 29 December 2008.
She is the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Bangladesh National Parliament and the former Foreign Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Dipu Moni re-elected again Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League 20th council.
She represents Chandpur-3 (Chandpur-Haimchar) as a Member of the 10th National Parliament of Bangladesh.
