Agartala, June 18 (TIWN): The NSUI Tripura state committee on Wednesday raised severe objection to alleged illegal fundraising by the Students Federation of India (SFI) in colleges and said that the college authorities had formed unholy nexus with the students' body.
Addressing the media at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan here this afternoon, NSUI state president Bapi Das said that the student body would submit a deputation to the Director of Higher Education Kishore Ambuly. "We will seek immediate action on all persons connected with the nexus. We have definitive proof that SFI members are forcing new entrants to pay for 'special fund", Das said.
He added that candidates approaching college authorities for admission are denied admission forms sans the SFI fund collection token.
Admission started across all 22 government general degree colleges of the state on June 11. A delegation of the NSUI on Tuesday visited Michael Madhusudan Dutta degree college in Sabroom sub-division and protested against the issue. The principal in-charge declined to entertain our protest outright and said he couldn't do a thing.
Alleging direct nexus between the college authorities and SFI leaders in the illegal fundraising imposed on the students, NSUI president Bapi Das said that SFI members and faculties were seen collaborating for collecting subscription and giving admission forms in the same table.
"We would like to ask if colleges would be able to continue education if all students' bodies including ours start forced fundraising in the campus", Das quipped.
