UDAIPUR / PALATANA, Dec 8 (TIWN): Tripura CM Manik Sarkar’s claim of ‘POWER SURPLUS’ State now blinking in load-sheddingas two major power plants OTPC and NEEPCO on the verge of zero power generation. 15 days shut down is now undergoing in OTPC's 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) thermal power project located at Palatana,Udaipur.
According to TIWN sources in OTPC the authorities decided to go for this pre-planned shut down as some defects arose in the Boiler portion and Steam turbine of Unit-I. It is expected that by 10th December Unit-I will resume generation .
As soon as Unit-I resumes power generation , a fifteen days shut down will commence in the Unit-II likely to taken from 11th December.
A team of experts of BHEL from Hyderabad had already arrived at Palatana and they are busy in rectifying the defects in Boiler as well as in Steam Turbine.
A highly placed sources in OTPC some problems are also there in the Warranty period. BHEL experts will try to do all the necessary maintenance during this one month duration .
Thus it is obvious that before 26th December OTPC is unable to read its full fledged generation .
And quite naturally the 'Power Surplus' (?) state Tripura is certain to face acute shortage of power through out December( at least upto 26th December ). To make the matter worse even Manarchak plant too is not generating upto its full capacity.
Irrespective of OTPC or NEEPCO shutdowns or lakhs of peoples sufferings in load-shedding never matter to comunist ruled Tripura's Chief Minister or Power Minister as they continue to live in fools paradise.
