AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Nov 29 (TIWN): Tripura Congress even though staged protest against demonetization and burnt effigies of Modi on Monday evening but lack of public response once again exposed the hollowness of anti-demonetization protests. Congress enriched thousands of crores blackmoney like its all-season bed partner CPI-M, so sudden demonetization move destroyed party's cash reserve to rock bottom. Birjit Sinha, Gopal Roy led rally failed to generate any political benefit to party as people are fed up with protests and bandh culture.Congress on Monday continued to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his demonetisation decision, terming it the "biggest scam in Independent India" and demanding that he apologise for the "mess" he has created."Demonetisation is the biggest scam in Independent India," party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said at a media briefing even though over 80% of Indians supported Modi Govt's bold move.

Congress also said that Modi has not demonetised the currency but ended up demonetising the economy, the jobs, trade and businesses, the agricultural and rural sectors and the people of India.

Demanding that Modi should "apologise for creating a mess in the whole country", he said the Prime Minister now "needs to come up with a solution for the entire chaos he has created".

By a "single disastrous decision, Modi has brought the entire country to a standstill and has demonetised the whole country," he added.

"With one stroke, Narendra Modi has broken the back of the entire agricultural sector," said Surjewala.

"Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and the entire opposition have demanded an investigation through Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)," he added.

Congress also charged the Modi government with changing the rules and directives on demonetisation 105 times in last 19 days.
