Agartala, May 28 (TIWN): With the development of the state day by day, the department of agriculture is also taking modern techniques of cultivation.

The agriculture department has taken a new initiative of rice cultivation in the state through the SRI process. This process will help the farmers to develop their own seeds for paddy cultivation. Much amount of grains will be produced from a minimum amount of land which ultimately will result in giving huge profits to the farmers.

The Salema Agriculture department has taken initiatives to the provide NDR-97 seeds under the SRI process to 45 farmers who have 16 Hectares of agricultural land. The Sector Officer Uttam Debbarma and VLW Mukul Debbarma reported that previously the seeds had to be bought from outside to cultivate paddy through the SRI process.

Presently 45 farmers were selected for the seed cultivation project. He expected that 3 MT of seeds will be produced from each of the hectares. These seeds will be supplied not only in the subdivision but also throughout the state which will help in a better paddy production throughout the various parts of the state.
