Agartala, May 27 (TIWN): As part of goodwill gesture, Border Security Forces (BSF) and its Bangladeshi counterpart- Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB) held meeting at Dak Bungalow at Sabroom today.
While BSF sector commander SS Gehlot led the BSF delegation, Sector Commandant of BGB Sahariar Kabir headed the Bangladeshi side in the meeting.
Though there was no official words on the outcome of the meeting, sources said various border related issues- erection of barbed wire fencing, smuggling and cross borer movement of insurgents came up for discussion in the meeting.
The areas under Khagracherri and Bandarban which falls under Chittagong Hills Tracks are still considered NLFT’s hotbed. In fact, they are operating subversive activities from Khagracherri and Bandarban.
Sources claimed, the BSF delegation has taken up the presence of militant hideouts across the border before BGB delegation.
Earlier, an eleven-member BGB team headed by Kabir arrived here through a boat and went to the Revenue Dak Bungalow. After holding the meeting, they went back to Bangladesh.
