Agartala, May 25 (TIWN): In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old tribal girl was allegedly abducted and then gang-raped by three youths for five consecutive days in a house at Indranagar area sparking a widespread resentment among city dwellers. This incident came to the light after twin rape incidents near Jail Road.
The girl, a resident of Sharat Chowdhury Para under Sidhai police station had an affair with Mantu Debbarma alias Bipul, a resident of Indranagar. Taking the advantage of the affair, Mantu and his friend Birala Debbarma (30), a resident of Lembucherra picked up the girl from her house to the residence of Mantu on May 20. Since then, Mantu and Birala including another friend- Mangal Debbarma (28), a resident of Hezamara have stated rapping the minor girl by consuming her tablets, confirmed police.
However, after committing the inhuman act Mangal and Mantu went to drop the victim girl at her house in Sharat Chowdhury Para on yesterday morning. By that time, the local people and family members of the victim noticed and tried to catch them immediately. But realising the matter Mantu escaped from the place while locals caught Mangal and handed over him to police of Sidhai police station. Interestingly, no missing diary was filed by the parents of victim.
Of late, the victim girl detailed about the incident to her parents. Furious over the incident, parents of the victim went to the Sidhai police station and logged FIR against three rapists. A specific case has been registered against Mantu, Birala and Mangal at Sidhai police station. Based on the FIR police arrested Birala Debbarma from his house, yesterday. Prior to that police had arrested Mangal Debbarma in connection with the gang-rape. Police could not arrest Mantu Debbarma. The victim girl is almost mentally disorder now and under treatment in serious condition at Katlamara Primary Health Centre (PHC). The family members and local people have demanded for proper investigation.
