Agartala, May 23 (TIWN): In a shocking incident, two minor girls were raped by their two friends at a house near Jail Road under East Agartala police station sparking a widespread resentment among city dwellers.

However, two rapists-Sayan Roy Chowdhury of Lichu Bagan (Ghosh Para) and Ram Chowdhury of Palace Compound were arrested soon after receiving complaint from the victims.

Two girls, students of a city based girls’ school came out of their houses last evening to take private tuition. After reaching tutor’s residence, they found he was not at home.

Ram, a student of Class XII standard was also waiting in the house of the tutor’s house. Taking the advantage of the situation, Ram approached both the girl to roam around since there was no possibility of getting tuition today.

And both the girls readily agreed on the Ram’s offer. By this time Ram summoned one of his friends- Sayan to join him as he was going to roam around the city with two girls.

According to police, Ram and Sayan took both the girls to their friend’s house near Jail Road around 8 pm and raped them whole night. Today morning, two minor girls went to their respective houses and narrated their last night ordeal to their parents.

Furious over the incident, parents of victims rushed to East Agartala Women’s police station and lodged FIR against two rapists. Based on the FIR, police arrested both rapists.

A specific case under section 366(A), 328/376 (2)(I) IPC has been registered against Sayan and Ram. And they would be forwarded before the court tomorrow.

The incident sparked widespread resentment among the city dwellers. They want exemplary punishment for the accused persons.
