Agartala, Sept 24 (TIWN): Minister for scheduled castes welfare department, Ratan Bhowmik launched a 24 – point special package for welfare of the scheduled castes communities of the state.
While addressing a press meet at civil secretariat on Wednesday, the minister said that based on the successful implementation of earlier two development packages, the state government proposed to launch the third special package to be implemented over a period of 5 years from 2013 -14 to 2017 -18.
Speaking about details of the package Mr. Bhowmik said, “Special attention will be given for development of – infrastructure, economic and education.” He stated that necessary initiatives will be taken for providing basic infrastructural facilities for communication like all – weather road, telecommunication, health care facility, electrical power supply, safe drinking water and sanitation, irrigation etc in the uncovered SC populated areas in priority.
The minister informed that for developing economic condition of the community, the government decided allotment of land to landless SC families’ belonging to BPL category will be allotted available khas land as per government guidelines. “Safai Karmacharis living in Agartala Municipal Council area near IGM hospital complex as well as in other Nagar Panchayats will be provided available land and financial assistance for construction of dwelling houses” he said.
For enabling those to come out successfully in various competitive examinations of all of all India and State services Mr. Bhowmik said that special coaching facility will be provided to eligible candidates belonging to scheduled castes families.
