AGARTALA, Aug 20 (TIWN): Both CPI-M and IPFT are putting their best efforts for the campaigning for bi- poll for Simna-Tamakari ADC constituency, scheduled to be held on August 23. Kumud Debbarma has been nominated as the CPI-M candidate for the bi-election and Mangal Debbarma is nominated as the IPFT candidate.
It is to be mentioned here that state election commissioner GK Rao in a press meet said notification for holding the bi-election was issued on July 27. The nomination paper was filled on August 4.
Scrutiny of the papers would be done on August 5, and the poll will be conducted between 11AM to 3pm. A total of 22, 481 people would cast their vote for the ADC election. Altogether there are 32 polling stations.
However, the constituency felt vacant after the death of a MDC Ranabir Debbarma in February. Almost after 5 months, the election is going to be held in the same constituency.
Reportedly, SDM of Mohanpur has been appointed as the Returning officer for the bi-election. The model code of conduct has already come into effect.
The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) is an independent counsel administering the tribal areas of the state of Tripura, India. Its council and assembly are situated in Khumulwng, a town 26 km away from Agartala, the state capital.
In the 2005 elections to the TTAADC the Left Front won 24 seats out of the 28 elected seats and the National Socialist Party of Tripura four. The Left Front and NSPT had contested within the framework of an electoral understanding.
