AGARTALA, Aug 16 (TIWN): In a digital move, the rubber board has introduced what’s App facility recently as a part of the existing “rubber clinic†to address the problem of the rubber growers related to the rubber production instantly.
With the help of this application, growers across the nation can contact the rubber clinic through Mobile number 094963331117.
Growers can take the photographs of the disease affected in rubber plantation and send the picture to the rubber clinic through what’s App from their mobile phones along with their queries.
The queries will be answered immediately. However, for the time being the queries will be answered in English and Malayalam.
India has 600,000 hectares of land under rubber plantations, producing about 750,000 tonnes of rubber annually.
Tripura is the second largest rubber producer in India after Kerala with 80,000 hectares of land under plantation, producing 40,000 tonnes of rubber annually.
Tripura's annual turnover from rubber cultivation is about Rs.480 crore.
