AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): Dipa Karmakar craze gripped Tripura as Mega Sports-Star Dipa Karmakar’s posters are all over Tripura to Delhi. Tripura Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury while talking to TIWN said, “From Govt. side also we have planned to decorate the City with hoardings of Dipa Karmakar. As the Sports Minister, I wish Dipa’s success and domination over Rio Olympic”.“Dipa is now much more related with the main-stream of Indian Sports. I wish she would shine the name of the nation”, he said. “we are expecting her excellent results from the Olympic-2016. All the best wishes from us and our blessings too”, he added. Even though Shahid Chaudhury uttering honey-coated wishes now but Tripura CM Manik Sarkar or Minister Shahid Chaudhury failed to award even a Rs 100000/- cash prize even though Prime Minister Modi and Union Sports Ministry gifted Rs. 1.10 crores for Dipa’s advance training, even Rs 6 lakhs cash prize after achievements of Bronze medal in Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014. Dipa's Olympics sports event will be held on August 7 and Dipa Karmakar’s birthday falls on August 9.

However, from Tripura no Govt. representatives are going to attend at Rio Olympic. At least Tripura Sports minister could attend the programme, and to become a part of the historical event, as she is the first Olympic athlete ever in Tripura.

The Rio Olympic inauguration will he held on 5 August 2016, Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. However, Dipa's sports event will be held on August 7.

On April 23^rd, Deepa Karmakar, the first woman gymnast of India qualified for participating in Olympic Games.

However, Dipa Karmakar has become the symbol for Olympic aspirants and the sports star of Tripura.

A Tripura girl created history in gymnastic world in her young age in 2016.Apart from being the first Indian woman, she will also be an Indian gymnast qualifying for the quadrennial extravaganza after 52 long years.

Narendra Modi led Central Govt already announced Rs 1.10 crores towards Dipa's training in foreign till August but from  Tripura nothing special was done for her except banners and hoardings.

However Sahid Choudhury ended by saying, “Dipa is now India’s hope. Tripura govt. wishes for her success over Rio”. 

Same Shahid Chowdhury laughed off saying that " Let her perform first, right now she is just a contestant' when TIWN cornered Sports Minister back in March 2016 asking why Tripura Govt failed to announce any cash rewards after Dipa's Olympics selection and achievements in Glasgow commonwealth games 

TIWN even though being a non-profit media was the first Tripura organization to felicitiate Dipa Karmakar in 2014 with cash prize right after her bronze medal success in Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Dipa Karmakar, her father Dulal Karmakar, Coach Bishwajit Nandi visited TIWN office to receive honours.
