AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): On the occasion of ‘World Hepatitis Day’-2016, “Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura” on its 14th Foundation Day disclosed that Tripura is more victim of Hepatitis-B, which has crossed far more than AIDS. Addressing the people at Mukta Dhara, Dibakar Sarkar, General Secretary of ‘Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura’ said, “Tripura has AIDS victim less than 1000 people, but it has 1.5 lakhs of Hepatitis carrier which kills people more faster than AIDS and due to lack of awareness it’s spreading more and more”.“The tribal areas are more victimized as we could not spread our network yet there. However, at Kanchanpur and Gandhacharra we already reached”, he added. “Hepatitis D and C has been lessen in number as since the foundation in 2002, after vaccination programmes were held regularly.“Although State Govt. can not help us financially but the Tripura Govt. is beside us ‘Logistically’, which is the main support of our organization”, he added.Fueled by General Secretary’s praising Education Minister (the Former Health Minister) who also inaugurated ‘Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura’ in 2002, said that due to lack of proper Health Policy yet in India the Health Care Facilities are in bad shape in all over India, which is affecting Tripura badly.

“Central Govt. can help the states with funds, as they have all resources of income. For state govts it’s not possible to bear the cost of big missions”, said Chakraborty. “State Govts do not have so much fund, but the central govt. can spend  funds, for the welfare of people”, he added.

“We are logistically helping in Hepatitis campaigning in Tripura, we are providing doctors for check-up at free of cost. More than that what help a state Govt. can do?”, said Chakraborty.

“Central Govt. has brought many schemes as NRHM, NHM, but due to lack of proper policy the benefits are yet to reach in Tripura”, said Minister.

“Tripura Govt. during Manmohon Singh’s time urged the central govt. in 2005 to include Hepatitis vaccination in their national health care scheme but the earlier govt. didn’t follow our suggestion. The present Govt. also has failed to provide proper medical facilities in state”, said Chakraborty.

However, Minister Chakraborty said that there are 90 health care centres presently in Tripura where works are going on and Govt.’s target is to complete 125 total within next year.

“Tripura has less number of private hospitals, as 90 % of health treatment are taken care by Tripura Govt. As people go for govt. hospitals the business of Private Hospitals are not at all here. Poor people can not go for luxurious hospital also”, he added.

However he didn’t mention that Tripura’s most costly and luxurious hospital ILS land was given by Tripura Govt, which brought the Tripura govt. under huge controversy.

But Tapan Chakraborty also cried over Central-budget that the present central Govt. is reducing budgets in 2 Sectors : One is Education, another is Health. As a result privatization can be boosted up in Tripura, which will be harmful for the society.

Whether Tripura Health Service is undergoing various corruptions, and people are facing everyday deaths in Govt. hospitals, patients suffering due to bed-shortage, water crisis, lack of doctors, Tapan Chakraborty clamoured high at Muktadhara.

It was in Tapan Chakraborty’s era as the Health Minister that Gomati Dist. Health Service fully broken down and the Subdivisional Hospital(Tripura Sundari Hospital) on the heart of Udaipur City left in dead condition. Although Chakraborty promised to take care of both the District Hospitals and Sub-divisonal Hospital after his Ministry was transferred from that dept. all promises were forgotten.
