AGARTALA / DHAKA, July 24 (TIWN): A 21 member’s team of Bangladesh Border Management has arrived in Tripura and held meeting with BSF at Akhaura-Check-Post, and in Sal-Bagan BSF Camp. Better days hopefully to come in Tripura as Border Security Forces from both India and Bangladesh have taken initiative to enclose the unsealed Indo-Bangla Border fully.

Under Tripura PWD, the border fencing work is moving in a snail’s space. In North Tripura 12 KM unfenced border, in South Tripura 16 KM unfenced border and in Sonamura it’s 9.5 KM unfenced border along with many more unsealed bordered have hit Tripura’s security-factors.

After BGB’s 21 member team lead by Regional Director Brigadier General  Mh. Habibul Karim were welcomed from Akhaura Check-post by BSF, a meeting was held at Salbagan BSF camp. Another meeting took place at State Guest house.  However, in this regard a press meet will be held on July 27 regarding the outcome of the meeting. The ‘Coordination-Conference-Meeting’ to be continued for 4 days.

However, in the year 2015, Rajnath Sing visited in Tripura and checked many unfenced border areas and after that on June 24, 2016MHA Border Secretary Susheel Kumar also arrived in Tripura and he spent few days to check the real condition of border security management in Tripura.

MHA Border secretary expressed extreme displeasure regarding the border fencing situation in Tripura.  During the meeting held at Circuit house question raised regarding the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) and Susheel Kumar said that the status of border area under BADP is not at all satisfactory.

In the mean time Home Minister Rajnath Sing had already asked the NE CMs to take care of the border fencing as fast as possible. The work has already gotten a momentum in Tripura’s neighboring Assam.

However, with the meeting between BSF and BGB the possible positive outcomes cab be hoped.

This Indo-Bangla security meeting will be continued till July 27 and a press conference will be held on that day, after the end of the meeting.
