AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): Due to some technical disturbances, construction agency is unable to do some concrete works at Bordowali and there by delaying the work over past few days.

However, locals at Bordowali have alleged that the agency is delaying the work at Bordowali and the work is progressing in snail pace but project head claims about quick progress in the work.

Although flyover project head claimed that the ongoing trend of the flyover construction for the first time in Tripura seems to be completed before the deadline as the fixing of the iron guarder for the pillar has began at Battala and will be expanded towards the stretch of Bordowali too.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, flyover project head Amit Mallik said that the fixing of iron guarder has began and will be expanded towards Drop gate soon.

Speaking about the status of the work he said that the work is carried out 24 hours in a day without any break and around 300 labourers are engaged in the work. However, they are guided by about 50 to 52 efficient engineers.

Maintaining the quality of the construction material is the top most priority of the company, effort is made to provide quality work, he added.

With the aim to complete the construction work in the given deadline, flyover work is carried out in full swing

Iron frame structure for pillars is already set up with the help of steel and iron bars and cement concrete. With the ongoing days, it is seen that the work progress is gaining momentum and will be completed in the given duration.

He further said that a total of 68 pillars would be set up in the entire stretch of the pillar from Dropgate to firebrigade chowmuhani where work for the 28 pillars is underway so far.

When asked about the flow in the construction of flyover, he reiterated the same problem regarding the encroachment of footpaths at Bordowali and underground water pipe channels. As the government has not yet made clear the underground set up of the underground water channels the construction agency is facing problem to carry out the work smoothly.

The two-lane flyover would have a width of 8m and the cost of its construction would be Rs 250 crore, at the current prices. The flyover will be completed in 30 months which stands around 2.5 years. However it is important to finish the work in the given deadline.

The project has gone to Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited through a national tender.  It is alleged that they are black listed company but why the construction work is given to such company question arises. ,

At present there are 3.20 lakh motor vehicles of various categories in the state and parking has become a major problem in the state capital. The rush of people to Agartala is also difficult to tackle unless we have smooth movement of people and vehicles, this flyover will ease traffic congestion.
