Heavy Rain disrupt BSNL's services in Tripura, telecom service shattered

AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): Two days of downpour in the state has disrupted the Internet and other telecom services. Broadband services are down, and pre-paid services has been playing hide and seek with the subscribers and the Net users are finding it difficult to get connected .Tall claims of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) about providing world class Internet services in the state have proved to be a hoax.

The high-speed broadband services have become a nuisance, the subscribers complain. “What broadband are you talking about? These services were launched just to fool the people and to earn money.  

The BSNL broadband connections are working too slow and some are out of order due to heavy rains from last few days. The subscribers of BSNL especially various offices, banks and cyber café are facing problems with their broadband connections.

The cables were damaged due to heavy rains. This has resulted in interruption in the broadband services and telephone services as well, said an official. 

The BSNL officials said that the main primary cables have been damaged. The cables are damaged badly and it is a tedious process to restore every connection. 

The services are likely to be restored within the next few days. The connections will be restored in a phased manner. An official from BSNL said that steps are initiated to restrict the cable faults due to water logging. 

BSNL broadband users rued that they had to put up with poor connectivity and slow speed, particularly in rural areas. While, subscribers of the BSNL have alleged that the services of the state-owned telecom operator were very poor in the main localities of the district, heavy rains have worsened the condition. 

Heavy rains have badly affected the rail, air traffic and mobile services in Tripura. Over thousand of landline phones of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) were snapped.

Due to heavy rainfall telephone facilities has become faulty in some part of the state, but the rural area has been affected badly.

 The BSNL mobile service has also been affected as there was no network due to rains. Around lakh mobile subscribers suffered because of this condition. It's not only BSNL, other cellular phone subscribers also faced the network problem.
