Brahmhachara (Udaipur) Tribal woman’s brutal-murder in 2015 : Criminals roam free since 1 yr : No actions taken even after petitions to SP Gomati, victim family petitioned to Governor, likely to appeal HC for ‘Justice’: TIWN visits victim family

AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Gomati District continue to be plagued by lawlessness, rampant rape & murder under the regime of District Magistrate Sonal Goel and SP Sarswati. Sonal Goel's tenure as DM Gomati likely to be remembered as the era of most crimes against women. Over a year have been passed since a hapless tribal woman was brutally murdered (allegedly after rape) in a forest zone at Brahmhachara near Udaipur on May 8, , 2015. For her family, she went to collect bamboo shoots like everyday but she hasn't returned alive. Her dead-body tied up with ropes with several injuries on her was returned to her husband and children, but till now Gomati District Police could arrest only one accused, although FIR was lodged against multiple persons. Poor victim from ADC area was murdered a year long back, and already investogator Udaipur SDPO was also transferred. So tibal victim's case has almost dumped into files as a blind case and Tripura’s medias focus may also moved away from Udaipur Bhrahmachara murder case.

Police could arrest only 1 person named Pushpa Kumar Tripura but just after passing 3 months in jail, accused came out of bail due to lack of chargesheet, since then case was dumped into cold-storage by the negligent Gomati District Police.

TIWN correspondent visited victim's residence in Brahmhachara few days back to enquire about the injustices meted out by the Gomati District Administration.

The victim’s husband named 'Bikram Manik Tripura' during his conversation with TIWN journalist, said that the he is not at all satisfied with the pending case. Bikram Manik said, ‘Although there were many accused but police didn’t arrest them apart from Pushpa Kumar Tripura, and neither police did further continued inquiry into it’.

Narrating his sad story, Bikram Tripura said ‘After the new SP Saraswati Rai had joined in Udaipur, I sent her a letter, but then the O/C Bikash Debbarma, also I/O of the  case expressed extreme displeasure asking me why without informing R K Pur Police, the victim family went to the Higher Officials as SP?’

However after SP’s order, Bikram Manik Tipura (deceased’s husband) was called via a notice letter to the police station but in the name of reporting correct information/ update to Bikram Manik the O/C Bikash Debbarma further misbehaved, issued stern warning not to bother Police or SP for his wifes rape/murder.

Police Officer-in-charge Bikash Debbarma's threatening letter to victim's husband Bikram Tripura ( that too in english language to a poor worker  who has no knowledge of english)

The case registration shows that the charge-sheet which was filed by police was very weak : as only IPC 302 and 201 were implemented.  Moreover, the victim family didn’t get the post-mortem report yet so that rape/physical harassment nothing is cleared to them.

‘I have sent letter to the Governor also in last month and already talked to an advocate of High Court named Debashish Dutta to file a case in High Court about my pending-slow going case. I just want proper justice who killed my chidlren’s mother’, he said.  (Bikram Manik Tripura has one son and one daughter. He said, due to her mother’s death she failed in Madhyamik test exam last time and fully broken).

Renu Bala Tripura(35), W/O-Bikram Manik Tripura had been murdered brutally in Brahmhachara area on May 8, 2015.  But due to ‘retarded attitude’ of police in Udaipur, the case going very slow and also police concluded by only arresting a single person.

Renu Bala Tripura’s dead body was found in a forest of Bhrahmhachara, Udaipur, where she went to collect bamboo suits. Her body was found in a pathetic condition, tied with ropes along with many injuries which left on her body.

TIWN correspondent likely to mention that, Gomati SP Saraswati does daily morning jogging in Udaipur with multiple security guards for her own security, but common women has no such security in Gomati District.
