AGARTALA, July 2 (TIWN): Although Tripura’s various Anganwadi centres are left in deplorable condition but Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday during felicitation prgoramme to the Madhyamik, HS Students organized by TGTA claims, “Tripura Anganwadi centers are providing much better service in compare to the other states.

He said, ’98 % children from 0 to age 5 are under Tripura Anganwadi Centres in rural areas’.  ‘Not only the students, but their mothers are also a part of this Angawadi centers’ facility. They are provided with medical care who are pregnant or ill’.

The Anganwadi workers are maintaining a double relation both with the kids and with the parent, which is an exceptional example in whole country, said CM.

He further added, the weight of the students are regularly measured & the children who are identified as underweight are regularly checking up by doctor. The quality education also guarantees the 100 % admission in Class-1.

However, claiming high in TGTA programme sitting on the heart of Agartala City and travelling via AC cars it might be easy to speak like this, whereas Tripura schools, Anganwadi centers are victim of lack of infrastructure, poisonous mid-day-meal and education for the name-sake.

It was in the month of February, that the children fall sick after they had consumed poisonous mid-day-meal at Dharmanagar Anwanwadi centre. But initially no step was taken against the school authority for such a careless act.   The Anganwadi Centre, where the cooked rat was served to the students belongs to the ward number 2, North Ganga Nagar, at Dharmanagar subdivision. This terrible incident came into limelight when the full rat was found in the palters of a little girl namely Sneha Chanda. Moreover, the rest of the rat body parts were found in other plates. The Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath also visited the Cook Basanti Rani Nath’s house and assured that nothing will happen with her (sources said).

But today, CM didn’t mention that incident, rather he was praising the service at Anganwadi centres and also appreciating the Asha Women for their full Dedicational (?) service.

On June 24, it was revealed in a programme at Pragna Bhawan that the National De-worming scheme which was launched by Modi Govt. in 2015 with the target to reduce the threat of parasitic worm infections, (a widespread health issue affecting the children allover India) was also implemented for state Tripura, under the observation of Health Dept. Education Dept. and Social Welfare Dept. jointly—where, Tripura had miserably failed to achieve the target.

But still CM at Najrul Kalkshetra claimed high about the facilities available in various Anganwadi centers in Tripura.
