AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): Acting on a tip off, west police on Thursday late night nabbed three wanted thieves from Jaipur area who were accused of stealing bike from Agartala.

The accused are identified as Tanmoy data 24, Abdul Halim26, and Amit Bhuiya 24 who jointly executed their plan and had stolen two bikes from Agartala bearing number TVS-TR01E-5535, Hunk-TR01N-7994.

However, police said that the thieves were supposed to smuggle the bike across the border. In the mean time with information from the secret source the police have arrested the thieves and were dragged to court on Friday.

Motorcycle theft is becoming a more common occurrence daily. It is common knowledge there are numerous gangs stealing vehicles and selling them on, or shipping them outside the city.

Along with the capital, there are several incidents in the interior parts of the state where thieves or some gangs of goons manage to steal bikes from the market areas.

However, compare to the number of stolen bike, the recovered number of bikes are very less. The police must gear up to curve the rampant increase of bike theft.

The active participation of the police may lead to confidence in the mind of the public that they can remain tension free from the stealing of vehicles.

There are incident where several bike theft groups in the area sells the bikes spare parts and sell them separately.

Even there are thieves, who paint the stolen bikes and sell them. Therefore, the police must gear up to curve the crime which is going rampant over the state.

In most of the theft cases it is found that mostly Bangladeshi youths are involved in these theft cases. Tripura shares an 856-km border with Bangladesh. Around 80 percent of the border has been fenced. A large portion of the border is unfenced, porous, mountainous and riverine, making it advantageous for anti-social elements.

Police said cross-border criminals not only use the unfenced areas to enter India, but also climb over the fence using ladders. Young Bangladeshi boys are "hired" and sent to Tripura for various crimes including theft. After stealing various they smuggle it to Bangladesh.
