AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): During the programme held at Pragna Bhawan on National Deworming Day on Friday, which was aimed to upgrade the health condition of students studying in various schools across the state, Director of Education Prashant Kr. Goyal blasted all the Govt. officials (Education Dept.) of Tripura for their massive failures to fulfill the target under NHM Scheme--- where pills were to be provided in schools for the children to control ailments related to Soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections.
Modi Govt. launched the ‘National De-worming Day’ on February 10, 2015 which included all the states and territories as a part of a massive school-based de-worming effort. However, since 2004 the de-worming project was already there for Tripura ADC areas. But after 2 rounds of De-worming effort in state Tripura could achieve only 79.97% of its target. Whereas in the year 2015 the coverage was 64.96 %, in 2016 it progressed with only 79.97 %.
Director of School Education Prashant Goyal said, “I see no reason why Education Dept. could not get the success”.
He however praised the Dhalai and North DMs for achieving success in this scheme. “Why the other districts can not perform well if Dhalai and North Dist. could?”, said Goyal.
The monitoring by the head of the Depts in districts and subdivisions is not at all satisfactory”, he added.
He further criticizes Tripura Govt. Officials for their negligence to keep proper records. “In a meeting held before few days, I found that officers failed to show date and records properly, which is a matter of shame”.
“Everything is providing by the Govt. and you just need to organize all of them and monitor the work properly”, he added.
