Cyclonic storm creates havoc at Belonia, huge loss reported

AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): Seasonal cyclonic rains and thunder storms disrupted power supply and transport movement besides damaging a large number of houses at at Belonia and its suburbs areas on Tuesday. According to the official sources, rain caused damages to many houses, business shops, and agricultural land also.

The storm has mainly affected Bharatchandra area under Belonia sub division. However, the authorities have reached the spot.

It is to be mentioned few people were seriously injured in different parts of Tripura due to lightning, accompanied by heavy rains.

After a scorching day in summer the sudden splash of rain has brought a sigh of relief to the common people.  Few splash of rain has come in disguise for the common people on Friday evening after the scorching heat.

The meteorological department on Tuesday once again has forecasted for squally wind to hit Tripura in next 24 hours with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunder-showers in isolated part of the state.

Incessant rainfall to hit Tripura soon along with hailstorm. Metrological forecast also indicated that heavy rain will continue in isolated part of the state along with heavy blow of wind for the next 24hours.

Speaking to TIWN correspondent, official of metrological department said that Tripura will be hit with squally wind. However the rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder storm and lightening.

The sky in Agartala and its vicinity remains generally cloudy, rain may occur in some areas of isolated part of the state. On the other hand, this rain will solve few amount of water scarcity. It is to be mention that many interior tribal localities in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis. People rely on water hand pumps and local streams installed in few villages.

However, the moderate rainfall which has hit the state has hit bought much of relief from the scorching heat.

The rain along with a thundering storm has also uprooted hundreds of trees and telephone and electricity poles and triggered panic among the people of the state.
