AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): Although the central Govt. has considered to turn Tripura’s capital city into a SMART city in next coming years, but the state govt. of Tripura in its last 22 year’s dominance has left no scope to convert Agartala city into a SMART City in a faster way.
Although Tripura is dreaming to get a SMART City with its Unhygienic condition and broken roads in every corners of the city but the central Govt. has ranked Agartala city 85th among 97 SMART Cities, scoring 45.58 %.
But on the other hand other NE states as Gwahati (Assam) has scored 57.66 %, whereas Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) 52. 26 % closing with Panaji’s (Goa-score-52.99%). Shillong(Meghalaya) scores of 46.65 %.
Arunachal Pradesh however ranks 39 and Assam 17, Meghalaya has ranked 70 but alas (!), Tripura has ranked 85th.
However, it has been announced that in the first track the Northeastern states will be upgraded including Tripura, but Tripura’s capital city has remained in pitiable condition which is impossible to change soon with the ‘half-dead’ attitude of the Govt. here.
From building construction to market stalls Govt. hardly kept any space to create new parking zones, new gardens beside the roads.
If the SMART City plan really starts soon, then many buildings have to be broken down including other unorganized market places, house-complex which may give a tough time to the workers to convert Agartala city into a SMART City and it may take more 22 years to re-make the city.
However, for allowing unauthentic business over road side including set up of Govt. organizations the state Govt. & the ignorance of AMC are responsible.
