AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Incessant rainfall that Agartala had been witnessing for the last two days had disrupted normal life in the state. Thousands of people are trapped in the road due to the continuous rain and water logging at several parts of the city.
According to MeT officials, several parts in the state have been witnessing continuous rainfall for the past two days because of active monsoon systems.
The state has been witnessing heavy rainfall over past many days and flood like situation has occurred all around.
Several roads were water logged and jam packed with vehicles. Traffic on the roads was affected for hours because of an overflowing stream.
The MeT department has predicted that rain and thundershowers will continue in Tripura for the next 24 hours.
Normal life in the city was disrupted on Friday due incessant rain throughout the day. A drizzle in the morning turned into a downpour by afternoon.
The strong surface winds turned the weather chilly and led to a drop in temperature forcing senior citizens to remain indoors. Children returning from schools and their parents had to brave the rain and chilly weather.
The rainwater overflowed on the roads and a broken road at Battala posed a threat to motorists and pedestrians alike.
Daily wage earners, petty vendors, and those involved in outdoor work like marketing executives had a tough time.
Cool breeze and drizzles of the rain — some might be happy with the pleasing feel of the monsoon. Some may find the rain irritating and for many college goers, this rainy season has spelt trouble for the common people.
