AGARTALA, May 12 (TIWN): With the soaring temperature the demands for the fresh and juicy pineapples are also going high in the market.

The seasonal fruit pineapple can be seen in the market with its soaring price now.  As summer increasing the demand of fruits, so market price also went high with the raising demands of public.

Tripura is famous for pineapples which are also been exported to the other countries.

Reportedly, Tripura pineapples, especially the queen variety are now regularly going abroad. Canned pineapple slices are being sent to European countries.

Although the cost of the pineapples are high to an unexpected, yet the people thronged into the market to purchase one.

Generally two types of pineapple are grown in Tripura — Queen variety and Kelenga variety. Queen variety is famous here in Tripura.

In Tripura, there are two seasons as far as production of pineapple is concerned. The main season is June to July where there is maximum production and secondary season or off season is during the month from October to December. Production during the off season is comparatively less compared to main season.

During main season, pineapple fruits piles up in the roadside for marketing by the retailers for fresh consumption but fresh consumption hardly meets the total production available in the season so, in many cases pineapple fruits are sold in cheaper rates or rot which ultimately results in loss to the growers.
