AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): Messy roads, huge number of vehicles, irregular parking has led to massive traffic jam in the city giving tough time to common people.

Agartala can no longer be considered peaceful city one when it comes to matters related to traffic system. The immense increase of the traffic congestion truly taken away all the joys and happiness which the city otherwise was entitled to.

Every day the city wakes up new problems and troubles. Whether it is to blame the poor road conditions or the poor traffic signalling system, the dweller of the city needs to face it every day.

Ill maintained roads and streets of Agartala of the highly used roads are filled with craters and cracked surfaces. As a result of which many vehicles get stuck thus giving rise to a terrifying traffic jam.

Considering the construction of fly-over work which undergoes in full-swing at Battala-Bordowali area, and further coupled with limited road infrastructure and paucity of parking space, has been playing havoc with the traffic management in the city. For the travellers it is a Herculean task to cross the junction over the Howrah Bridge particularly during the peak hours due to gigantic traffic jam.

Vehicles were seen moving in disorganized manner amidst of messy traffic.  The route from Battala-Bordowali has simply turned smoky with the continuous release of smoke from the vehicles which were witnessed gripped in the middle of traffic jam.

With the beginning of the construction work of the fly-over work at Battala which is now extended to Bordowali, the chaos of traffic congestion has become a regular course.  Many of the auto drivers simply denied for carrying passengers as it takes at least 30 to 45 minutes to cross the road from Bordowali to Battala due to the massive traffic jam.

And that who has carried passengers from Kamper bazaar, Amatali, Badharghat and siddhi Asharm has adopted a separate route to drop the passengers at Battala via Chowdhury mill side lane.

Unauthorized parking of vehicles over the Howrah Bridge and on the roads is creating the chaos throughout the area making the movement of general public difficult. With ever-increasing number of vehicles, commuters are risking their lives daily by travelling in these road beasts not knowing whether they will safely reach their homes back. The daily travelling is not only frustrating, but a harrowing experience.
