AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Aparajita Sarangi, Joint secretary (MGNREGA) under central ministry of Rural development has nailed Principal secretary GSG Ayyangar for the mismatch in the work completion rate since its inception and for the current fiscal year 2015-16. In a letter to Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar, Aparajita Sarangi, Joint secretary (MGNREGA) under central ministry of Rural development said that the work competition rate under MGNREGA in Tripura since its inception is 83.79 percent, but in actual it is only 36.4 percent. It is to be mentioned here that as per the para 10 of scheduled-I of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA says tht while opening works in Public works category it shall ensured that the ongoing or incomplete works should be completed first. However, looking the status of the MGNREGA work the central rural ministry has ordered to pay serious attention into the matter district wise and to improve the competition work rate.

Question arise how Tripura achieved the title of providing highest man-day’s despite of being unable  to fulfil the minimal completion  rate.

The central ministry has ordered issuance of completion certificate and entry in the MIS for 16599 number of works on which expenditure has already been made equal to or greater than the sanctioned amount. Completion and issuance of completion certificate for 23331 numbers of works which were stated in the years 2014 -15 and before.

Works suspended due to legal technical other issues that area likely to remain suspended in future also may be closed immediately and should be informed.

Central ministry has ordered to start campaign for the completion of work and entry in MIS. Ministry have also asked to give constant information to the department regularly.

It is to be mentioned here that the ministry has ordered to review action on June 1st on the mentioned issue.

However, the central ministry has pointed out the embezzlement in the MGNREGA scheme in Tripura under the rule of Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar.

It is to be mentioned here that, many newspapers have reported about his involvements in different corruptions which was going round the corner. During his earlier deputation term on inter-cadre deputation, Dr. Ayyangar, was repatriated to the state over his alleged involved in the timers scandal, which rocked the municipal administration department of Hyderabad.

The alleged corruption took place while Dr. Ayyangar was working as director, personnel and administration, Singareni Collieries Company Limited.  Dr. GSG was in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and was reportedly responsible for purchasing the timers used for street lights at an exorbitant price compared to market rates.

Apart the Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) probe into the timer scandal has nailed four IAS officers including G S G Ayyangar

The probe was initiated after the government ordered an inquiry into the purchase of 7,002 timer devices at an exorbitant price of Rs 8.12 crore by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.
