Govt. announces to make municipal area 100 percent water scarce free: Several families in the interior yet walk miles for a bucket of water

AGARTALA, May 9 (TIWN): Despite of several tall claims to provide safe drinking water to the needy families before every election, water scarcity yet high in various parts of the State.

It is to be mentioned here that Agartala Municipal Corporation where announces to make the municipal area free from water scarcity, several families in the interior parts of the state are yet craving for water.

The issue of water scarcity is not of recent, before every election the party claims to provide safe drinking water to the needy people but once they grab the seats the party hardly looks back.

For prolonged several years the families in the interior parts are facing water scarcity. Women have to walk several kilometres just to fetch a bucket of water.

It is worthy to mention that AMC has taken initiatives to make the municipal area 100 percent water scarce free but there are several families in the interior who are struggling daily just to fetch a bucket of water.

Besides, the water on which the families are depended on, mostly contaminated and various water born diseases are budding in the water.

People are getting affected with malaria and various other water born diseases. Though, the authority is aware about it but least bothered to bring change for the needy families.

It seems like these families have to depend on the contaminated water for their life. Despite of several demands place before the authority yet no initiatives has been taken to end the water scarcity in the interior parts of the state.

On the other hand, the Corporation have announced to target 20, 000 families for providing sanitation.

It is to be mentioned here that when the water of Howrah River is getting worse day by day. Besides, it is also is getting dry. The Department realized that they have to take action to curb the rising pollution.

River Howrah is the lifeline of the capital city of Tripura, due to which people get access to drinking water which is purified by the ‘Water Treatment Plants’. 

Therefore, it should have been the responsibility of the department to take immediate action when they came to know about the pollution.

Now when the water of Howrah is facing the worst situation, it came to the mind of the department that they have to do something.
