AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Tripura’s RD department under the so called surveillance of Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar is constantly hit with corruption and embezzlement of crores of funds. Corruption tainted Tripura is yet again under the scanner recently after corruption was reported from the Agriculture department. Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar in a recent memorandum stated that it has become impossible to meet the agricultural sufficiency due to lack of extension support for adoption of modern agricultural technologies in field. Throwing the ball in the court of the extension agencies of the department of Agriculture GSG Ayyengar is trying to make an easy escape from the alleged embezzlement. It is alleged that only to save himself from the bad name Ayayargar has created this story.

Alleging the shortage of extension staff in field due to the season bound activities from the district level to the gram Panchayat level Ayyangar has made a clean sweep from his involvement in the corruption leading to lack of sufficient agricultural production.

It is to be mentioned here that recently reports were received by the Rural Department that still there are some fake job cards conforming round 5 percent of job card holders.

It is to be mentioned here that, many newspapers have reported about his involvements in different corruptions which was going round the corner. During his earlier deputation term on inter-cadre deputation, Dr. Ayyangar, was repatriated to the state over his alleged involved in the timers scandal, which rocked the municipal administration department of Hyderabad.

The alleged corruption took place while Dr. Ayyangar was working as director, personnel and administration, Singareni Collieries Company Limited.  Dr. GSG was in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and was reportedly responsible for purchasing the timers used for street lights at an exorbitant price compared to market rates.

Apart the Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) probe into the timer scandal has nailed four IAS officers including G S G Ayyangar

The probe was initiated after the government ordered an inquiry into the purchase of 7,002 timer devices at an exorbitant price of Rs 8.12 crore by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.

The V&E has in its report has also recommended booking criminal cases against Ayyangar.

However, the sources further confirmed that it took huge amount of time to figure out such embezzlement of public money resulting the farmers deprived of fertilizers.   

An IAS officer of 1987 batch Manipur-Tripura cadre, Dr. GSG was one of the most favoured and confidant officer of Chief Minister Sarkar during his earlier stint in the state.
