Erosion at Howrah River, rising pollution worries common mass: Authorities role on question

AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN): With just the beginning of the monsoon season, erosion at the Howrah River has started to worry the common mass.

Mostly panic gripped among the people residing near the river bank.

It is to be mentioned here that every time authorities claims about taking initiatives to control the rising pollution and the soil erosion in the river but no fruitful result has been seen yet.

On the other hand, the major river for the capital of the state is also hit with the pollution cause by the human excreta, dumping of waste and many other reasons.

Earlier decision was taken to remove all the kaccha latrines from the bank of the river but till day in many areas people are seen practising open defecation. Locals also dump garbage on the river water which is also reason behind the rising pollution.

However, all these reasons are becoming a serious issue for the pollution in the Howrah River. Besides, erosion in the river is also becoming a major issue for the common mass.

However, River Howrah is the life line of the capital, with its situation turning worse it would create massive problem for the people.

As per the report of Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Howrah River becomes grossly polluted in Agartala city due to the garbage’s being dumped into the river.

The Howrah River’s Pollution is now at such a high level that the amount of toxins, chemicals and other dangerous bacteria found in the river are now almost threatening a danger to the lives of the people.

Howrah which is the life-line of water service for Agartala is being polluted every minute due to both domestic sewage and other pollutants that are being dumped in to the river untreated.
