AGARTALA, March 18 (TIWN): Tripura Govt. on Friday tabled a Budget of Rs 15,246.52 crores in the state Assembly for the 2016-17 fiscal at Tripura Assembly.Total receipt of debt is stated to be Rs 1570 crores and the deficit amount was stated to be at Rs188.54 crores. Finance Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the debt of Rs. 1570 crore would be reportedly covered by reducing non-development expenditures, stepping up resource mobilization to increase the state’s own revenue beside more efficient tax enforcement and effective austerity measures. The budget has also revealed that the Budget for the Fiscal year 2016-16 is hiked by 17.34 percent compare to the previous year. However, the budget of the financial year 2016-17 laid importance to the development of various departments including Health, Education and other. Presenting his state budget in the assembly, the minister said the measures would enlarge the scope of employment-generation in the state. Minister Tapan Chakraborty who has been given the portfolio of Finance Department has this task for the next 5 days and placed the much awaited budget in the Assembly. Reportedly, the budget session began from Friday morning. It is to be mentioned here that he five-day long budget session is expected to continue till next month.

According to report, on the first day of the budget session the budget for the financial year 2016-2017 was placed.

Few bills including one for raising salary and allowances payable to members of the state Legislative Assembly are likely to be placed in the current session on the other days, a highly placed source in the department of Parliamentary Affairs said earlier.

The five days’ assembly session would conclude with appropriation of bills and resolutions.

The Budget was placed before routine question hours. The state committee has finalized the business for the upcoming Budget session. 

This budget session will made the Yusuf commission report public. It is  to be mentioned here that Public prosecutor in behalf of government demanded some more time and stated that the report will be made public in the assembly session.

The state government will publish the report as well the report on action taken in the in the last day of the budget session

It is to be mentioned   here that ahead of the budget session of the Tripura assembly, the state government has announced an additional five percent dearness allowance (DA) for its 209,000 employees and pension holders.
Claiming state government’s financial crunch, it    has released additional five percent of DA for the employees and pensioners.
