AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): With an aim to inspect the railway tracks, amidst cheers and enthusiasm of the public, the NFR first broad gauge engine left for Udaipur on Tuesday from Agartala Railway Station. As the deadline coming closure, the progress in the work of the BG conversion is undergoing in full swing. According to the report, the journey towards Udaipur had started at around 1 pm. It is expected that within few months the people of Udaipur are going to enjoy the train service in full wave. However, on the occasion of the first broad gauge engine heading towards Udaipur huge interest has been observed among the people and sources said that people of Udaipur were eagerly waiting for the train to arrive there, as the people of Udaipur can take the passenger train service to reach Agartala. However, for the regular train service in the state, CRS inspection is necessary, as safety is the top most priority. Without the CRS inspection it is not possible for the regular train service to initiate.

In this regard, if everything falls in right place, the CRS inspection will be done soon.

If the CRS gives green signal, the track will be ready for introducing BG passenger train service shortly.

The much-awaited gauge conversion work in Tripura line has been completed and is pending for inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). The work on the route commenced in the month of October and the work is almost completed.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

With an aim to meet the deadline and to complete the construction work on time, Railroad crews are still finishing work on the tracks, installing new switches and making other final adjustments before the trains start to roll.

According to the reports, the history of railway in Tripura began in the year 1964 with the extension of 31 Km long railway line from Kalkalighat to Dharmanagar.

Later, the track was extended to Kumarghat at a distance of 32 Km in the year 1990.

However, by the year 1997 the new broad gauge railway line of 109 kilometres from Kumarghat – Agartala has been sanctioned.

However, if the CRS give green signal, people of Tripura may enjoy the BG passenger train service by the mid of April.
