AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 8 (TIWN) : Tripura’s lone woman in Manik Sarkar’s cabinet, Bijita Nath spoke to TIWN from New Delhi while attending the National Conference of Women Legislators’ organized by Central Govt. Tripura Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath urged Prime Minister Modi for women reservation to fill up the gaps between men and women in workplaces.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday stressed on the importance of “women-led development,” in his address at the valedictory session of the National Conference of Women Legislators, in the Central Hall of Parliament. PM said we must think beyond “women development,” and move towards “women-led development.”Bijita Nath while talking over phone to TIWN on Monday evening conveyed her greetings and best wishes on ‘International Women’s Day’ which falls on March 8, Tuesday. While talking from Delhi, Minister asserted on the women’s rights, equality, shunning gender bias in all fields of work in India. However Minister skirted away the most important topic why CPI-M Govt failed to provide employments to massive educated women in Tripura. She said, “Tripura women although performing themselves well in educational field, but women with right skillsets are not upto the mark on other professional sectors”.Congratulating the Speaker, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, for her leadership and vision in the organization of this Conference, the Prime Minister said that in addition to the structured component of such events, experiences shared informally among delegates are also extremely enriching.Prime Minister said multi-tasking, which is considered to be a very important element of modern-day management, comes naturally to women.

Prime Minister urged the women legislators to engage with their constituents using technology.

He described his own experience in this regard, and spoke of the enriching thoughts and views he has been receiving through the MyGov platform and Narendra Modi App.

Tripura Minister Bijita Nath while talking to TIWN said, “As any backward society needs reservation for uplifting themselves, so in case of women also, reservation is necessary”.

“Alteast 4 seats should be allocated for women among 12 seats in Tripura cabinet”, added Nath.

As a regular habit of Marxist propaganda against Centre’s bold initiatives on developing NE region, she criticized the Modi Govt. for not responding to her query during the seminar, where she urged for women reservation in work places. Now no one knows in which language Bijita Nath asked Modi the question of women’s reservation as it’s a well aware fact that Minister lacks verbal & written skills of both English, Hindi.

“Our fight is not with male domination, but our fight is to become independent in every strata of life”, says Nath.

“If the society doesn’t help women to overcome of all drawbacks, progress of women is just not possible”, says Nath.

“We are attending here the seminar held by Central Ministry, but I have found is rather cold towards the reservation for women”, says Nath.

She further added, “Although the central Govt. has decided to uplift for betterment of women within 5 years, but we have not seen any serious steps taken by Govt. of India till day”.

It’s worthy to mention here that Tripura Minister is attending the seminar at Delhi, along with MLA Rita Kar (Sabroom, South Tripura).

During the 2 day seminar, it was decided  to work for transparent, accountable and inclusive governance and to contribute the task of building a 'Resurgent India', giving equal opportunity to all.

The resolution was adopted by conference participants in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and former president Pratibha Patil.

However, Tripura Minister seems unhappy for not getting due importance in national seminar, which most likely due to her lack of communication skills  rather than apathy of Central Govt who paid her luxary flight journey to all amenities.
