Slum fire gets political flavor : BJP leaders visit the slum attacked with devastating fire incident

AGARTALA, March 6 (TIWN): BJP state president Biplab Deb on Sunday along with other members of the party visited the slum adjacent to Hindi higher secondary school at Radhanagar which was completely burnt into ashes when massive broke out in the slum on Saturday afternoon leaving one seriously injured. It is to be mentioned here that hearing about the devastating incident BJP team lead by state president Biplab Deb met the common people of the village, heard the miseries of the people and took a look of the situation. Visiting the spot, BJP state president also said that he will look for the well being of these people.Reportedly, at least 5 house and shops were burnt into ashes when massive broke out in a slum adjacent to Hindi higher secondary schoolon Saturday afternoon. The fire brigade with the help of 5 fire tenders brought the fire under control. It is suspected that many slum dwellers were trapped in the fire, however everyone is now in the safe zone.

A source said that the fire sparked from short circuit in a shop and in a while the flames spreaded in the entire slum and at least burnt 5 houses so far along with 4 shops.

Efforts were on for more than one hour to douse the flames; he said adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. A major fire broke out in the slum area adjacent to Hindi school which reportedly got sparked from short circuit in a shop.

Life came to stalled when massive fire broke out in the slum as the houses in the slums are congested and the fire took bad shape in the area.

However, an old man also succumbed to injuries when the man came in contact with the sudden fire break out. The injured was immediately rushed to hospital.

The people of the slum on Saturday escaped death when massive fire broke out in the village. Panic prevailed in the area for more than hours, however, after hours of struggling the fire was brought under control with the effort from the fire tenders.

Preliminary investigation says that the fire broke out in the shop from short circuit and with the wind it gutted atleast 5 houses.

Getting alarm about the fire incident huge police force along with 5 fire service crew reached the spot and after several attempts brought the fire under control. Fortunately there were no reports of any major injuries.

Loss worth few lakhs was reported form the incident.
