KAMALPUR, March 6 (TIWN): Many dreams scaling the sky were happily woven and many aspirations of changing life into a happy haunt of pleasure. Plans were served hot to the appetite for making Kamalpur a beauty treasure in the state. And all those tricks and trickeries made the CPI-M to regain the Nagar Panchayat and this time with no opposition.

Obviously, in political fight such cattering of dreams never meant anything wrong. And often the failure in fulfilling dreams also became a common matter in our age-old democracy.

But what remained the tradition, was at least some beginning of plans and dreams. But, the new  Nagar Panchayat not yet became able to even start some big project regarding the beautification of the town. And the board also showed extreme negligence in preserving the history, which otherwise be an ideal spot for starting beautification.

The unused and rusted cantilever bridge over the river Dhalai connecting Maracharra with Kamalpur since 1976 became useless in 2005. It became so, as a new RCC bridge got constructed beside it. And the connectivity from then on became smoother and swifter.

But, the cantilever bridge which remained unused and neglected might be preserved as a token from history. For the next generation and also for the students and researchers of engineering, the technology and architecture of the bridge as was constructed by the Burn and Burn Company, might be a useful one.

Further, a fine evening stroll might be arranged for people by erecting net-fencing around the bridge and then making gardens on its both sides with proper lighting arrangements.

This would make people to have breath of fresh and cool air coming up touching the flowing water. But, the Nagar Panchayat would probably not adopt the same as the bridge was built during the then Congress regime and was inaugurated by then Forest Minister Kshitish Das.
