Tripura’s first flyover: 25 percent work completed : Work for erecting pillars underway, Project Head talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, March 5 (TIWN): About 25 percent of work for Tripura’s first flyover is completed so far as said by Project head for the Tripura’s flyover Amit Mallik on Friday. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday, Tripura’s project head Amit Mallik said that about 25 percent of work is completed so far and the work is progressing on a smooth pace. He further said that it can be expected that work will be completed before the deadline if there is no interruptions from any point. When asked about the flow in the construction of flyover, he said that the main problem they are facing now is the encroachment of footpaths at Bordowali and underground water pipe channels. As the government has not yet made clear the underground set up of the underground water channels the construction agency is facing problem to carry out the work smoothly. A total of 68 pillars would be set up in the entire stretch of the pillar from Dropgate to firebrigade chowmuhani where work for the 28 pillars is underway do far. Speaking about the status of the work he said that the work is carried out 24 hours in a day without any break and around 300 labourers are engaged in the work. However, they are guided by about 50 to 52 efficient engineers.Maintaining the quality of the construction material is the top most priority of the company, effort is made to provide quality work, added Mallik.

Pilling for the 123 metre long cantilever bridge from Nagerjala to Battala over the Howrah River is completed and the further work has already begun.  

With the aim to complete the construction work in the given deadline, flyover work is carried out in full swing

It is to be mentioned here that the Project head has assured that the work will be completed before the given deadline.

Iron frame structure for pillars is already set up with the help of steel and iron bars and cement concrete. With the ongoing days, it is seen that the work progress is gaining momentum and will be completed in the given duration.

The project was given to Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited through a national tender. Since they are already engaged in advanced construction work in Agartala like the NIT and others, the state government here flooring the tender had entrusted to undertake the work for building the flyover at the Agartala city.

With the construction of the flyover, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduce the traffic congestion in the road.

The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam and will make a smooth running of vehicles in the street.
