KOLKATA / AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Hitting hard on proposed alliance of Congress-CPI-M on upcoming Bengal polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee poo-poohed sudden political marriage between arch rivals CPI-M and Congress.Dismissing the proposed alliance between the CPI-M and the Congress, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said the combine's candidates would forfeit deposit in all the seats in the coming state assembly polls."Let there be an alliance between the CPI-M and Congress... that's very, very good. I want the alliance to be foremd officially. Their candidate will forfeit their deposits in all the seats," she said while participating in the discussions on the governor's address in the state assembly.Banerjee said the proposed alliance was nothing but an unholy nexus. "We have forged an alliance of the people, which will take on this nexust. We will come back with the people's mandate," she asserted.CPI-M's septuagenarian leadership finally cleared the decks for its first electoral tie-up with the Congress in West Bengal, the CPI-M sought cooperation of all democratic forces to defeat the ruling Trinamool Congress in the coming assembly polls. The opposition later criticised the chief minister for her "attitude", and said such comments did not behove the high constitutional post she held.

As per political analysts, aligning with Congress in Bengal, CPI-M's Yechury & Karat committed another political suicide as Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is expected to win by heavy margin due to political bickerings of CPI-M, Congress in Bengal.

Scoffing at Banerjee's remarks on the alliance, leader of the opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra said: "Look who is saying. How many times has she forged alliances? The people of the state are well aware of this."

"Sometimes she aligns with the Congress, sometimes with the BJP, again with the Congress, again with the BJP. She should stand before a mirror," the Communist Party of India-Marxist leader told media persons after the house adjourned for the day.

Leader of Congress legislature party Manas Bhuniya said "The chief minister's attitude is not right. Why does she get agitated all the while? Her attitude does not behove a person holding such an important post."

After a two-day central committee meeting that followed the party politburo's sitting on Tuesday, the Communist Party of India-Marxist said: "In West Bengal, the main task is to restore democracy and foil the aggressive efforts by the communal forces to polarise the people in the state by ousting the present Trinamool Congress government.

"The CPI-M will seek the cooperation of all democratic forces in the state to strengthen people's unity in West Bengal to defeat the Trinamool Congress, isolate the BJP and their machinations.

While Yechury refused to be very specific keeping in mind the concerns of the party's Kerala unit, which would have to take on the ruling Congress as its arch-rival in the assembly polls scheduled to be held around the same time as in West Bengal.

Accusing the Trinamool and the BJP of being in collusion, Yechury pointed to the slow progress of the Central Bureau of investigation probe into the Saradha chit fund scam.
