TIWN

AGARTALA, Feb 21 (TIWN): Ministerial Authority where claims about the crime against women have decreased, day after day issues of crime against women hit the State.

Reportedly on Saturday, a 24-year old house wife has been killed by her husband after kerosene has been showered over her over dowry demand.

Later, she has been taken to the Kathalia Community Health Centre and the doctor declared her dead.

According to the police report, the incident took place at Kathalia under Sonamura Sub-Division.

The accused husband identified as Rajiv Majumder has been arrested by the police after the brother of the deceased Krishna Majumder has filed a complaint.

However, it has been demanded to take strict action against the accused.

Similarly, recently a 28-year house wife of Dharmanagar has been killed by her husband and her mother in-law. Not only this, the husband also tried to kill the twin of the couple but unfortunately they are now safe.

These kinds of incidence are happening all across the State.

House wives are tortured, murdered and sometime are beaten to death just for dowry. However, killing women for dowry has been going on for prolonged many years.

Though several awareness camps, seminars and workshops have been organized to curb down the rising crime against women but yet today several innocent women had to give away their life for dowry.

Despite of several incident of crime against women, it seems like the state government is sitting idle without taking any strict initiatives to save the innocent lives.

Day after the newspaper and electronic media channels reports about the rampant dowry death, kidnapping, torture, trafficking and many others but the State Government is least bothered to look into the situation.

Besides, the State Government has established number of women police station and recruited more number of women in every sector yet the initiatives has been allegedly failed to curb down the crime against women.
