AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): All India Lawyers Union on Saturday declares the list of selected candidates for the upcoming Tripura bar association election of 2016 in Tripura.

Addressing a Press Conference on Saturday at the Court, thirteen names of the candidates has been mentioned.

It has been mentioned that Haribal Debnath, Subrata Roy, Bhaskar Debbarma, Jyaita Debnath, Sudip Sutradhar, Sukanta Paul, Goutam Banik, Minhaz Alam, Manju Deb, Tarun De Sarkar, Tapan Debbarma, Debdas Baksi, Arijit Chowdhury, Sebika Dey and Arghya Kusum Paul.

However, the Tripura bar association election of 2016 in Tripura is expected to be held on February 28.

It is to be mentioned here that Bharatiya Janta Party of the State has already filled nomination to the election and has also raised issues including independence of judiciary, to maintain peace and tranquillity.

Besides, earlier it has been mentioned the conviction rate to be increased and monthly an amount of Rs5000 should be given to the lawyers practicing for 0 to 5 years.

On the other hand, congress legal cell of the Tripura bar association has decided to boycott the election with an allegation that 72 numbers of legal voters has been omitted from contesting the election.

It is to be mentioned here that as per the rules if anyone’s name is omitted from the list he or she need to be given proper notification but in this case no notification was circulated and without any information altogether 72 names were omitted from the voters list which is not acceptable.

However, if in these few days the names of the omitted candidates are not included then they will be bound to boycott the election.

Allegation has been raised that the names of the candidates has been omitted to cut the votes of the Congress Party and to allow the left front to easily grab the seats in the upcoming Tripura bar association election expected to be held on February 28.
