AGARTALA, Feb 15 (TIWN): Impractical demands of CITU is once again disturbing the smooth bottling of cooking gas cylinders at Bishalgarh bottling plant for last many days.

Some impractical demands of the CITU workers are delaying the gas bottling and has nearly stopped he bottling at Bishalgarh plant.

Acute crisis of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder is still continuing in Tripura, triggering huge backlog. The total number gas agencies are being increased to 46 while the main gas bottling plant in Bishalghar is unable to cope with the ongoing cylinder demands. Such at situation, the rampant black marketing of LPG cylinders have gripped the state alarmingly.

Although, adequate bulk is arriving to the state frequently from Guwahati along with empty cylinders but there is no proper bottling of gas at Bisalgarh allegedly due to the dirty politics of the CITU. Weekly, there should be bottling of 1 lakh cylinder in an average rate but recently bottling of only 10,000 cylinders are done.

It is alleged that dirty politics is responsible behind such irregularity in the bottling plant.

Sources confirmed that CITU has placed some impractical demands resulting this indiscretion in the bottling plant.

With irregularities in the bottling plant, the consumers of the LPG cylinders are facing the crisis. As the agencies are not provided with the cooking gas cylinder they are unable to supply it to the consumers.

It is to be mentioned here that women in kitchens, particularly those who use LPG supplied by Indian Oil Corporation, are going through a nerve-wracking time over the last few days. All this while, the LPG delivery time has hit the state due to the crisis. LPG crisis has led to many kitchens running out of gas and scouring for alternatives.

Reportedly, the state requires over 1, 72,535 cylinders every month. The total number of gas agencies is being increased to 46. In such position, the two LPG bottling plants at Bishalgarh and Kalagachhia in West Tripura district are unable to cope with the rising demand for LPG cylinders. As a result, a huge backlog has been created all over the state. However, there is no assurance when will the crisis of LPG cylinders will come to an end.
