AGARTALA, Feb 5 (TIWN): With 12 charter of demands, CITU on Friday hold a rally at Agartala which moved across several parts of the streets raised slogan against the policy of the central government. To curb the price hike, security of the work place, to implement the labour act, along with a total of 12 charter CITU on Friday CITU on Friday hold a rally across the city.
Centre of Indian Trade Unions CITU is a National level Trade Union in India politically attached to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The Centre of Indian Trade Unions is today one of biggest assembly of workers and classes of India. It has strong unchallengeable presence in the Indian state of Tripura besides a good presence in West Bengal and Kerala. They have an average presence in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
According to the provisional statistics from the Ministry of Labour, CITU had a membership of 3,222,532 in 2002. Tapan Sen is the General Secretary of CITU and A. K. Padmanabhan is the president.
As a part of the rally, the organisation will also hold a meeting at old motor stand area. However, the meeting will be presided by MP Shankar Prasad Datta and others.
