UDAIPUR, Feb 5 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the increasing craze for the books among the State’s youth, Udaipur Book Fair has commenced on February 5 at Udaipur Sports Complex.
The Udaipur Book Fair has been organized with the initiatives of the Udaipur Municipal Council.
The programme was inaugurated by President of Tripura Secondary Education Department Mihir Deb in the presence of laureate Rameshwar Bhattacharjee, Chairperson of Udaipur Municipal Council Subrata Deb and others.
Reportedly, altogether 34 stalls has been set up at the book fair where the book shops from Agartala, Kumarghat and other places were also present.
However, the five days long programme will be continuing till February 9. The fair will continue from 3pm and will continue till 8 pm.
As a part of the programme, discussion, art competition and various other cultural programme will also be organized.
On the other hand, the 34th annual Agartala Book Fair- 2016 has been scheduled to be organized on February 14 at premises Umakanta Academy.
According to the official report, the fair will start from 3 pm in the afternoon and will continue till 8 pm in the evening.
Besides, on the off days, the fair stalls will be opened at 2 pm in the afternoon and will continue till 8.30 pm in the evening.
Reportedly, the fair will continue till 24 February 2016.
It is expected that this year around 119 stall will be opened in the fair.
Along with the Tripura publishers, different publishers of Bangladesh, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati will be invited to attend the Agartala Book fair.
However, during the fair events like seminars, conference of poets, dramas, recitation and musical programmes will also be organized.
Thousands of enthusiastic readers of the State and outside the State flocked to the ongoing twelve-day book fair in Agartala that not only displays books of the state, but also provides a platform for an interaction between both readers and writers.
It is to be mentioned here that the Agartala book fair is being organized in the Umakanta Academy ground since the first book fair in the year 1981.
