AGARTALA, Feb 2 (TIWN): Despite of several initiatives taken by the Traffic Department to curb down the rising traffic jam and accidents in the capital, rate of accidents are rising day by day.

It is to be mentioned here that though Nagerjala tri-junction has been declared as No-Parking zone, some unruly auto drivers and other vehicles stops by which creates traffic jam.

Highlighting the increase in the number of accident in the capital it has been mentioned that the accidents mostly occurs in the evening hour. Mostly the bikes and auto met with the accident.

However, it has been mentioned that auto rickshaw or any other vehicles must not be parked on the Jawhar Bridge and Subhash Setu and also not to park in front of both the bridge. Besides, auto rickshaw must not drop passengers on the middle of the road while crossing the Nagerjala Tri-junction and vehicles like auto and magic must not carry passengers more than the decided number.

But the unruly auto drivers are least bothered about the growing accident and continue to carry passenger from the middle of the road.

Allegation has been raised that lack of awareness among the common mass and mostly the lack of strict law or official negligence are some of the major reasons behind the increasing number of road accidents.

Though several awareness camps regarding the traffic rules are conducted in various areas of the state, yet the common mass are least bothered about traffic rues.

According to some locals, the traffic rules must be strengthened and more officials must be deployed in the major parts of the roads. As there are drivers who break the traffic rules while they cross the traffic zone of the capital as there is no strict vigilance in the roads of the interior.

On the other hand, the drivers of the heavy vehicles carry over loaded the vehicle and therefore, getting misbalanced the vehicles meets with road accident.

It has been mentioned that most of the accidents occurs due to the reckless driving on the road. And most of the time it has been seen that the drivers are drunk. Besides, sometimes they are driving in more than the instructed speed.

Besides, allegation has been raised that roads and footpaths across the state are in a deplorable condition for prolonged days.

Most footpaths in the city have shed their topping and pedestrians have to be extra cautious while encountering the bumpy skeletal trails now.
